Bugle is ushering in 2026 with purpose, pride and generational vision. The respected reggae crooner has released Good Over Evil, a reality-based, message-driven single featuring his daughter Layla-Rei, marking a deeply personal milestone in his decades-long commitment to conscious music. Released on January 2 via Little Lion Sound and Dub Akom, with an official video following on January 3, the track signals not just a new year for Bugle, but the careful planting of seeds for a musical legacy rooted in values, balance and intention.

True to form, Good Over Evil champions positivity, moral strength and spiritual grounding — themes that have long defined Bugle’s catalogue. However, this collaboration carries added emotional weight. Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, Bugle described the moment as surreal yet fulfilling. “After doing so many collaborations with so many artists, to be doing this with my own child even feels unrealistic — but great,” he shared, revealing that Layla-Rei has long been one of his biggest supporters, knowing his songs “line for line.” The idea for the collaboration emerged organically after school one day, evolving naturally from their everyday musical bonding.

Importantly, Bugle was intentional about how his daughter entered the space. At just 15 years old and an honour-roll student since starting high school, Layla-Rei’s education remains the priority. “At this stage, it’s not something she’s meant to focus on,” Bugle explained, emphasising the importance of balance and strong co-parenting. Introducing her through a conscious, message-driven song rather than a commercial release was deliberate — a reflection of his belief in leading by example and grounding creativity in purpose. “It’s a blessing to make use of what Jah has given you,” he added, while acknowledging that her future path remains hers to choose.

Guidance, not pressure, defines Bugle’s approach. With both parents aligned, Layla-Rei is encouraged to “be a leader and not a follower,” while developing her own creative identity at her own pace. As for whether Good Over Evil marks the start of an ongoing family collaboration, Bugle remains open-ended but optimistic. Having invested in a studio and with two of his children showing creative promise, he sees the moment as “100% an addition to the musical legacy” he has already built. For now, Good Over Evil stands as a powerful testament to faith, fatherhood and the quiet shaping of the next generation — on Bugle’s own terms.
