Could Shenseea’s new deal with Since ’93/Columbia Records be the game-changing move that finally cements her as Jamaica’s next global superstar? The Grammy-nominated dancehall artist is entering a bold new phase in her career with the release of “Boss Up,” her debut single under the label, marking her return to the major-label scene after parting ways with Interscope Records in late 2024.

“Boss Up,” released on October 24, 2025, flips Blu Cantrell’s early-2000s hit Hit ’Em Up Style (Oops!) into a sleek, confident anthem produced by Kristopher Riddick-Tynes and Alex Goldblatt. The track signals a fresh direction for Shenseea — a fusion of pop, dancehall, and international flair that reflects her growing ambitions. It also serves as her first official release since her critically acclaimed sophomore album Never Gets Late Here, which earned five wins at the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards, including Female Dancehall Artist of the Year and Dancehall Album of the Year.

At the helm of this new partnership is Riki Bleau, founder and co-president of Since ’93, the U.K.’s leading Black-owned label known for elevating African and Caribbean talents like Tems, Tyla, and Popcaan. “It’s a full-circle moment,” Bleau explained. “I’ve known Shenseea since 2017, and now we finally get to bring that vision to life. Our goal is to build upon the foundation she’s created in the U.S. and deliver global success.” The long-term deal with Columbia Records U.S. creates what Bleau calls a “joined-up international approach,” bridging her Jamaican roots with her expanding U.K. and U.S. audiences.

This marks a strategic pivot for Shenseea, who first signed to Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records under producer Rvssian in 2019. During that period, she dropped two Billboard-charting albums — Alpha (2022) and Never Gets Late Here (2024) — collaborated with major stars like Megan Thee Stallion, Tyga, 21 Savage, Wizkid, and Anitta, and won two MOBO Awards, including Best Caribbean Music Act earlier this year. She also scored a Grammy nomination and a U.S. Gold certification for her feature on Kanye West’s Pure Souls.

Now, with Since ’93’s proven global strategy and Columbia’s powerhouse marketing network, Shenseea’s positioning looks stronger than ever. If “Boss Up” is any indication, she’s ready to transcend genres and solidify her place alongside the next wave of international Caribbean stars.
