Some said it was the best night of their lives. Others wanted it to last longer. But one thing’s for sure — Vybz Kartel’s debut performance in Toronto left fans speechless, sweaty, and shouting “World Boss” until their voices gave out.

The “Fever” hitmaker made history Sunday night with his first-ever Canadian concert at Scotiabank Arena, kicking off a three-night run that had the entire city buzzing. From the moment he appeared on stage in a custom Toronto Blue Jays jersey and a symbolic “prison cell” intro, fans knew they were witnessing something monumental — the return of a dancehall legend in full command.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We had to be here,” said Rachel Donaldson, who attended the show with her sister Sarah. Another fan, Samantha Smith, showed up in a “Teacha’s Pet” uniform — a nod to Kartel’s 2000s reality show — declaring, “It was very important as a Jamaican to be here and represent the Gaza.”

Then came the surprise that blew the roof off: Drake. The Toronto superstar joined Kartel for an eight-song mini set, praising him as a “man finally getting the flowers and love he deserves.” The crowd erupted, waving flags and phone lights as Kartel responded, “Big up Toronto, big up Drake. Love you, my brother.”

Still, not every fan was fully satisfied. Some wished the concert had run longer, with Kartel’s set starting just before 10 p.m. and wrapping up by 11. “He did what he had to do,” said attendee Tashana Watts. “But if he started a little earlier, we would’ve gotten a little more.” Others joked that the “World Boss” should “bring dancers for the girl songs next time.”

Despite minor complaints, the consensus was clear: Kartel’s energy, production, and connection with the crowd made his Toronto debut unforgettable. “That was one of the best nights of my entire life,” fan Aisha Louis said. “Overall, 10 out of 10 experience.”

The King of Dancehall continues his Toronto takeover tonight, with the second show set to light up Scotiabank Arena again before the grand finale on October 30.
