Ghanaian-American songstress Moliy has achieved a major career milestone as her monster hit Shake It to the Max (Fly) remix, featuring Silent Addy and Jamaican dancehall stars Skillibeng and Shenseea, has officially surpassed 500,000 units sold in the United States. The genre-bending anthem, released in February, has not only struck Gold in sales but currently sits at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 — a feat that places her firmly in the global spotlight. This latest triumph comes hot on the heels of Moliy being named Billboard’s African Rookie of the Month for June, further cementing her status as one of Afro-fusion’s most exciting breakout acts.

Fusing Afrobeats, dancehall, and pop with effortless swagger, Shake It to the Max (Fly) has become a cultural phenomenon — a club favourite, a festival staple, and a viral soundtrack across social media. “It’s a reassuring feeling because I’m living in my purpose when I’m making my music,” Moliy told Billboard last month, reflecting on her journey since bursting onto the scene with Amaarae’s Sad Girlz Luv Money remix in 2021. Her signature sound — influenced by Ghanaian highlife, hiplife, and Western icons like Rihanna and Beyoncé — has clearly resonated, not just with fans but also with some of the industry’s biggest players.

The record’s remix, featuring Skillibeng and Shenseea, injected an undeniable Caribbean energy that helped fuel its crossover appeal. A rumoured follow-up version with Stefflon Don and Vybz Kartel is also in the works, which could further extend the track’s lifespan. “It’s really dope, and I’m excited for it to come out,” Moliy teased, hinting at even more global moments to come.

With Shake It to the Max racking up massive streams, strong radio rotation, and millions of YouTube views, it has become a definitive example of cross-continental collaboration done right. For many, Moliy represents the future of international pop: fearless, culturally fluid, and sonically bold. “My sound is worldwide,” she declared, “influenced by hip-hop, dancehall and a lot of the music I grew up listening to.”

Looking ahead, the rising star is focused on keeping the momentum going with a string of new singles expected to drop throughout the year, potentially leading up to a full project. “There should be a project… I would hope it would be more like I’m dropping singles and then at the end of it, there ends up being a project,” she hinted. Whether it’s lighting up stages around the world or climbing new chart heights, Moliy is clearly just getting started — and the world is paying attention.
