International pop sensation Lorde has sampled Dexta Daps’s sensual track “Morning Love” on her newly released fourth studio album Virgin, earning Jamaican production duo DASECA official songwriting credits. The album, released Friday, June 27, 2025, via Universal Music New Zealand and Republic Records, marks Lorde’s return to electronic sounds and has already been met with strong reviews from critics.
The track “Current Affairs,” where the sample appears, introduces a Caribbean pulse to Lorde’s evolving soundscape. DASECA—brothers David and Craig Harrisingh—are known for their rich contributions to dancehall, with credits on classics like Dexta Daps’s “Shabba Madda Pot” and the 2024 hit “Everything and Anything” featuring Agent Sasco and Lila Iké. Their inclusion on Virgin is a significant milestone that solidifies their role in shaping contemporary music beyond the shores of Jamaica.
Lorde, who previously faced polarising reception for her 2021 album Solar Power, told fans in 2022 that the feedback was “really painful” and “confounding,” but ultimately fueled her creative shift. “The banger will always be on the horizon,” she told fans at a 2022 concert in London. Her embrace of the DASECA-produced sample is a nod to that promise and a testament to the global resonance of Jamaican music.
For DASECA, the placement is more than a win—it’s a moment of international validation. It affirms their influence in a space where Caribbean producers continue to shape the sound of global pop music, one beat at a time.
