On Tuesday, July 8, Portmore came alive as Di Unit Sound System staged their milestone celebration, Di Unit’s 10th Anniversary: Portmore Edition, at Matrix Lawn. The event not only marked a decade of dominance in Jamaican entertainment but doubled as a vibrant showcase of the collective’s influence within the dancehall ecosystem. With fans and industry professionals in attendance, the night was a resounding success—cementing Di Unit’s legacy as more than just selectors, but curators of culture.

The high-energy celebration was charged with stellar performances from dancehall acts including Bugle, Quada, Ninja Kid, and Quick Cook, among others. Adding even more credibility to the night, popular media platforms Intense and The FIX Podcast were on location, capturing the moments and underscoring the significance of the occasion. It was the kind of turnout that spoke volumes—both literally and figuratively—about the respect Di Unit commands in the Jamaican music scene.

Di Unit’s Tall Boss, given name Davey Scott, was elated by the turnout. “The event was an overwhelming success. It was everything we expected it to be and more,” he shared, adding heartfelt thanks to the people of Portmore, their sponsors, and the wider entertainment community. He also noted that many in attendance were surprised that the group had already reached the decade mark—a testament to their consistency and staying power in a fast-evolving industry.

The event not only honoured the past but also pointed toward what’s next. One of the night’s standout performers, Bugle, is now set to make his grand return to the Reggae Sumfest stage later this month—his first appearance in nearly ten years. Fans are buzzing with anticipation following his performance at Di Unit’s anniversary, which served as a fiery reminder of his lyrical prowess and stage presence.

From its grassroots beginnings in Portmore to becoming a fixture on Jamaica’s entertainment calendar, Di Unit has built a brand that blends musical excellence with community pride. The 10th anniversary celebration was more than a party—it was a moment of reflection, recognition, and rejuvenation for one of dancehall’s most influential sound systems.
