After drawing major support from Jamaica’s entertainment community during last year’s milestone celebration, Di Unit Sound System is preparing to up the ante this summer for its 11th anniversary event in Portmore. Reggae firebrands Sizzla Kalonji and Bugle, along with Munga Honorable, are set to headline the July 10 showcase at the Portmore Mall Parking Lot, an event expected to attract a massive turnout from fans across the Corporate Area, St Catherine and beyond.
The highly anticipated staging follows the success of Di Unit’s 10th anniversary celebration held last year at Matrix Lawn in Portmore, where acts including Bugle, Quada, Ninja Kid and Quick Cook helped transform the venue into a hub of dancehall energy and community spirit. Media platforms such as The FIX Podcast and Intense were also in attendance, highlighting the event’s growing cultural relevance within Jamaica’s entertainment landscape. One year later, organisers appear determined to elevate the experience even further with a larger venue, heavyweight lineup and stronger corporate support.

Speaking ahead of the event, Di Unit’s Tall Boss, born Davey Scott, said this year’s staging will deliver much more than a typical dancehall showcase. “Our tagline is ‘Entertainment Beyond the Ordinary’, so it’s going to be more than just a celebration — it’s going to be an experience,” Scott shared. “We also have a lot of surprise guest acts who want to be part of the celebration, and they intend to perform as a way of showing appreciation for the support we’ve given them over the years.”

Scott also revealed that the decision to offer free admission was rooted in gratitude and community support during challenging economic times. “Things are tough right now, so this is also our way of giving back to our fans and supporters, which is why we have made admission to the event free for our patrons,” he explained. Alongside performances from Sizzla, Bugle and Munga, the lineup will also feature Nhance, Black Fyah, Ricky General and Richie 5, while selectors including Di Unit, Bishop Escobar, DJ Dandizzle, Bumpy Cash and Copper Shot are expected to keep the energy high throughout the night.
From its grassroots beginnings in Portmore to becoming one of the most recognisable sound system brands within Jamaica’s dancehall circuit, Di Unit continues to strengthen its legacy through community-driven entertainment and consistent cultural impact. With free entry, surprise guest appearances and some of reggae and dancehall’s most respected names on the bill, the 11th anniversary celebration is shaping up to be one of Portmore’s standout entertainment events of the summer.
