In a groundbreaking achievement, Kees Dieffenthaller, the frontman of Kes the Band, has made history as the first soca artist to sell out two consecutive SummerStage concerts at Central Park. The two back-to-back shows, set for July 5 and July 6, 2025, sold out in mere hours, marking an unprecedented milestone not just for Kees but for the entire Caribbean entertainment scene. This feat further cements his status as a global ambassador for soca and showcases the growing international recognition of Caribbean music.

This historical achievement follows the band’s sensational debut at SummerStage in 2024, where a single show sold out within hours, sparking a wave of demand that led to the double booking for this year. The band’s rise is not just a reflection of their immense talent, but also of soca’s evolving presence on the global stage. “We’ve always believed in the power of soca to bring people together,” Kees shared in a statement. “To see that vision unfold not just in Trinidad, but in New York, Canada, and beyond—it’s deeply humbling. This moment belongs to all of us.”

As Kes the Band celebrates 20 years in the music industry, they continue to break barriers with their infectious rhythms. Their chart-topping single Cocoa Tea has been a global phenomenon, dominating streaming platforms worldwide, while their recent IzWe Festival: Trinidad Carnival Edition brought together thousands of revelers from diverse backgrounds. Kes’ international reach continues to grow, with sold-out shows in Montreal in 2024, proving that soca’s appeal transcends borders.

Presented by Capital One, SummerStage is renowned for showcasing groundbreaking global talent, and Kes’ historic back-to-back sellouts reflect a cultural shift in the music industry. As soca continues to gain traction worldwide, Kes the Band is at the forefront of this movement, proudly waving the flag of Trinidad and Tobago. From the Caribbean to New York, Kes’ message remains clear—soca is here to stay, and it’s ready to take the world by storm.

Fans who missed out on tickets for these historic shows can catch Kes the Band at a variety of upcoming performances, including stops in the Cayman Islands, Malta, and Barbados, with a much-anticipated return to New York later this summer.
