Fresh off a stellar performance at Jammin Panama alongside reggae icon Capleton, the Love My Life hitmaker is re-evaluating his musical direction after observing trends in global dancehall consumption. His conclusion? The original dancehall formula still holds the most appeal.
“For the new year, we’ll be making some changes—more original dancehall and less of that trap business,” Demarco revealed. While he has experimented heavily with trap-dancehall in recent years, he acknowledges that mainstream success remains elusive for the subgenre. Data supports this sentiment, as Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart and streaming analytics consistently favour traditional dancehall styles over hybrid productions.
