The global music scene continues to spotlight Caribbean artists as three major milestones have been achieved by Skillibeng, YG Marley, and reggae icon Jimmy Cliff, underscoring their lasting impact on audiences worldwide. From Platinum-certified breakout hits to enduring classics earning new accolades, these achievements reaffirm the universal appeal of reggae and dancehall music.

Skillibeng, the Jamaican dancehall sensation, has notched his second Silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for his feature on Tyla’s hit single Jump. The track, also featuring Gunna, surpassed 200,000 units in the UK and highlights Skillibeng’s versatility in blending dancehall with Afrobeats influences. The single, which reached No. 38 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart and dominated the UK Afrobeats Chart at No. 1, continues to thrive internationally, earning Gold status in Canada.

Meanwhile, YG Marley, the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley, has solidified his place in music history with his breakout single Praise Jah In The Moonlight achieving Platinum certification by the RIAA. The independently released track, which samples Bob Marley’s Crisis, skyrocketed in popularity following YG’s performance during Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation of Lauryn Hill tour. With over 379 million Spotify streams and nearly 28 million YouTube views, the single has garnered international acclaim, peaking at No. 11 on the Billboard Global 200 and earning certifications in multiple countries, including Platinum in Canada and New Zealand.

Adding to this wave of success is reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, whose timeless anthem You Can Get It If You Really Want was certified Silver in the UK over 50 years after its release. The empowering track, which became iconic following its feature in the 1972 film The Harder They Come, celebrates 200,000 units sold in the region. Cliff’s career, spanning six decades, continues to inspire, with the Silver certification coming just weeks after his classic I Can See Clearly Now earned the same honor. “The enduring popularity of my music proves that its message of hope and perseverance resonates across generations,” Cliff remarked in a recent interview.

Together, these milestones celebrate the diversity of Caribbean music and its global resonance. From Skillibeng’s contemporary dancehall dominance to YG Marley’s innovative revival of reggae’s roots and Jimmy Cliff’s timeless classics, these artists exemplify the enduring power of Caribbean artistry to inspire and connect the world.
