Scheduled for February 18 at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, the ceremony will once again spotlight black music and culture, amplifying its global resonance.
The Best Caribbean Music Act category, introduced in 2022 as a broader evolution of the former Best Reggae Act, reflects the dynamic and diverse rhythms of the Caribbean. Over the years, iconic names have left their mark on this award. Sean Paul leads the pack with six wins from eleven nominations, epitomizing the region’s enduring global appeal. Popcaan and Damian Marley follow with two wins each, while female trailblazers like Shenseea continue to redefine the space. Notably, Shenseea became the first woman to win this category in 2021, setting a precedent for inclusivity and innovation.

Beyond the Caribbean category, the MOBO Awards highlight music’s biggest names across the globe. This year, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, and Tyla compete for Best International Act, while British talents like Central Cee and Jorja Smith, whose heritage ties back to Jamaica, dominate with three nominations each.
