The People’s National Party (PNP) recently announced Buchanan as their candidate for East Portland in the upcoming general election, signalling a shift in their strategy to reclaim a seat they held for 30 years. Buchanan, a celebrated and controversial figure, enters the political arena with a clear mission: to unseat the incumbent Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Member of Parliament, Ann-Marie Vaz, who has held the constituency since 2019.
Buchanan’s candidacy is not without its challenges. His career has been marked by both high-profile victories and public setbacks, including a suspension by the General Legal Council, which is currently under appeal.
