Veteran reggae and dancehall-gospel artist Cleve “Lt. Stitchie” Laing is reportedly in a long-term care facility after suffering a severe brain haemorrhage that has left him unresponsive. He is known for his vibrant contributions to the music industry and his impactful transition from dancehall to the gospel, Lieutenant. Stitchie’s condition has sent ripples of concern throughout the reggae community and beyond.

The family of the iconic entertainer has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of USD 100,000 to assist with the mounting costs of his medical care and rehabilitation. Although rumours about Lt. Stitchie’s health have been circulating since 2023, the specifics of his condition have been kept private until now. The family has not disclosed the exact timing of the haemorrhage but has made an urgent appeal for public support. In a heartfelt message on the GoFundMe page, they wrote,

“We are reaching out to you during this incredibly challenging time. Our beloved Cleve ‘Lt. Stitchie’ Laing, a husband, father, and friend, has recently suffered a severe brain hemorrhage that has left him unresponsive.”

Emphasizing the critical need for specialized care, the family highlighted the importance of community support in aiding Lt. Stitchie’s recovery. “Your donation will make a difference by bringing hope to Lt. Stitchie and his family during this difficult time,” the family stated. “We are very grateful for your support to help cover the costs of his transfer, medical care, and living expenses in the long-term care home.” They also appealed for the public to share the campaign, noting that both financial contributions and prayers are deeply appreciated. “Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and bring hope to Cleve and his family during this difficult journey.”

As fans, friends, and fellow artists rally around the beloved artist, the outpouring of support underscores Lt. Stitchie’s enduring legacy in the reggae and dancehall genres. His family’s message concluded with a heartfelt thank you: “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
