A vibrant celebration of Caribbean music unfolded at the 2nd Annual Caribbean Music Awards at King’s Theater in Brooklyn, New York, where some of the genre’s most influential artists were honoured. The event was hosted by Spice and comedian Majah Hype. Dancehall star Masicka took home the prestigious Dancehall Album of the Year award for his sophomore release, ‘Generation of Kings‘.
The night also saw standout performances from artists like Dexta Daps, who earned Performer of the Year (Dancehall) for his dynamic stage presence and consistent contributions over the past year. Soca star Nailah Blackman emerged as a double winner, capturing Video of the Year (Soca) and Collaboration of the Year (Soca) for her hit “Come Home” featuring Skinny Fabulous. This collaborative effort also earned Skinny Fabulous the Male Artist of the Year award in the soca category, further cementing their influence in the genre.

Renowned producer Stephen’ Di Genius’ McGregor was recognized with the Producer Honors for his pivotal role in defining modern reggae and dancehall sounds. Cedella Marley, daughter of reggae legend Bob Marley, received the Legacy Award for her contributions to Caribbean culture, reflecting her ongoing commitment to her parents’ storied legacy. The evening also paid tribute to the timeless contributions of Marcia Griffiths with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Alison Hinds was celebrated with the Elite Icon Award, underscoring her enduring impact on soca music.
