The Jamaica International Faith and Family (JIFF) Film Festival returns to Kingston from May 16 to 18, 2024, promising three days of cinematic celebration and profound cultural enrichment. At the forefront of this year’s event is the esteemed Jamaican–born Hollywood actor Jeffrey Anderson Gunter. Known for his captivating performances in blockbuster classics like “Only the Strong” and “Marked for Death,” alongside iconic figures such as Steven Seagal, Anderson Gunter brings his star power and talent back to his roots in Kingston. His illustrious career also includes a memorable appearance in Michael Jackson’s iconic 1991 music video, “Black or White,” cementing his status as a versatile and respected actor on the international stage.
The festival kicks off on May 16 with an electrifying Opening Night featuring cocktails and film screenings, along with a special 10th-anniversary celebration of “Just Another Friday,” Jamaica’s pioneering Gospel feature-length film. The following day, May 17, the festival opens its doors to schools across the island for an engaging Student Day session, providing valuable insights into the local film industry and a unique opportunity for students to interact with Anderson Gunter. Later in the day, attendees can enjoy a showcase of talent at the Karaoke and Glow Party, culminating in the announcement of the winners of the Youth Film Competition, offering over $100,000 in cash and prizes.
On May 18, Anderson Gunter takes center stage at Brunch with Jeffrey, sharing invaluable life lessons gleaned from his remarkable Hollywood career with attendees. Forty film and drama students have been generously provided tickets to this event, offering them an extraordinary chance to gain firsthand knowledge and inspiration from one of Jamaica’s most successful Hollywood figures. With tickets priced at an accessible $1500, the festival aims to welcome all audiences to experience the magic of cinema and the insights of a celebrated Jamaican talent. The festivities conclude with Community Night, a cherished tradition allowing communities across Kingston to come together and enjoy an evening of short films beneath the stars, bringing the Jamaica International Faith and Family Film Festival to a memorable close at the Jamaica Youth for Christ Auditorium.
