In recent times, a series of robberies within the dancehall community has caught the attention of fans and industry insiders alike. Notably, several artists, including Najeeriii, Teejay, Valiant, Malie Don, Demarco, Bounty Killer, and Pablo YG, have fallen victim to a rather unconventional perpetrator within their own ranks – fellow entertainer Wasp.

A lyrically potent artist hailing from Cassia Park, Wasp has taken a unique approach to address these incidents through his latest track, “Rob Some Artist.” In this composition, he cleverly narrates his alleged misdeeds against several of his compatriots if 2024 does not bring success for him, injecting a sense of humor into a rather serious issue. Notably, Wasp playfully mimics the style and rhyme scheme of rising sensation Najeeriii, known as “Bob,” in a segment of the song.

In a humorous yet audacious demand, Wasp articulates, “P****hole give mi yuh gad damn chain/ and mine mi open up yuh gad damn brain/ and nuh push no more gyal affi di gad damn stage.” This brazen approach continues as he takes on various popular personalities in the industry.

In an interview with Prism Marketing Consultants, Wasp sheds light on the inspiration behind this controversial composition. He expresses a desire to inject an element of fun back into the dancehall business, drawing parallels to similar moves made by artists in the hip-hop genre, such as 50 Cent. Wasp emphasizes that the song is not a personal attack but rather a playful attempt to bring entertainment and light-heartedness back into the music scene.

Addressing the seriousness that has permeated the music industry, Wasp remarks, “Everybody in music has gotten too serious; it’s like no fun is left. It’s just pure war and conflict, so this is me trying to inject some fun back into the business.”

Wasp issues a disclaimer that the song is meant for amusement and is not a personal affront to anyone. However, he warns, “It’s just all fun, but if anybody wants to take it personally and step to me lyrically, then I am always ready for a showdown.”

Released a few hours ago, ‘Rob Some Artist’ has already garnered over 8,900 views on YouTube, signaling a positive response from the audience. Wasp reveals that the song’s success is laying the groundwork for the release of several upcoming singles in the coming weeks, leading up to the launch of an EP. While the seven-track set remains untitled, it is tentatively scheduled for a summer release, promising more musical excitement from the Cassia Park deejay.
