Demonie Wilson, also known as Squidell, recently joined the prestigious Atlantic Records U.K. as an A&R executive. The official announcement was made on Wednesday, January 17th, following his appointment in late December 2023. In his new role, Squidell will play a crucial part in scouting fresh talent for the label, focusing on Jamaica and the broader Caribbean region.
Currently based in the U.K., Squidell expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity and highlighted the positive impact his appointment could have on the region. Drawing from his extensive experience working closely with regional talents like Govana and Chi Ching Ching, Squidell sees himself as a bridge to connect Atlantic Records with the rich pool of talent in the Caribbean.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, Squidell emphasized the significance of his role, stating, “My appointment as A&R for the Caribbean is a favourable step for the region because I am very aware of what the talent pool, especially in Jamaica, has to offer.” He added that the label is continually seeking new talent to enhance both the Atlantic Records roster and the artists themselves, contributing to the promotion of the culture while inspiring emerging talent.
Squidell, who entered the Jamaican entertainment scene in 2015, previously played a pivotal role in overseeing operations at Popcaan’s Unruly Entertainment. His wealth of experience positions him well to navigate the dynamic music landscape of the Caribbean.
