Jamaican track icon Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce captivates in a striking photo spread for Essence magazine’s feature on Black Women in Sports. The renowned five-time world 100m champion, affectionately known as the ‘Pocket Rocket,’ graces the pages of the January/February issue.

Recognized as one of track and field’s all-time greats, Fraser-Pryce, poised for her potential fifth Olympic appearance in Paris, delves into both her on and off-track life in an insightful interview with Malaika Jabali.

The 37-year-old speedster unveiled the captivating images on her Instagram page, showcasing her styled in Nike and Louis Vuitton attire. Captioning the occasion to her over 935,000 followers on the platform, she wrote,

“I had the pleasure of being featured in the Jan/Feb 24′ @essence issue that celebrates Black Women in Sports. Thank you @missjabali for the thoughtful interview where we discussed life both on and off the track. On stands now ?”

Notably, this isn’t the first instance of Fraser-Pryce making waves beyond the track; in late 2023, she made headlines by securing a lucrative endorsement deal with wristwatch brand Richard Millie, joining the ranks of sporting luminaries like Rafael Nadal and Mutaaz Barshim as a brand ambassador.

These strategic moves indicate Fraser-Pryce’s intentional navigation toward a post-athletic career, elevating her influence beyond the athletic realm.

As she prepares for her final Olympic appearance in Paris, the track queen is evidently carving a path for her continued impact beyond the competitive arena.
