Renowned Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy’s chart-topping hit, ‘Last Last,’ has reached another impressive milestone, earning a coveted Diamond Certification in France. The respected France Music Certification organization, SNEP, officially declared the track a Diamond record, making the announcement via their Instagram page. This recognition came as ‘Last Last‘ achieved a remarkable 50 million streams in France, cementing its status as a global hit.
In celebration of this phenomenal achievement, the African giant took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, sharing an image of the official cover art and the caption, “#ITOLDTHEM.”
‘Last Last’ was originally released in 2022 as one of the lead singles from Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated sixth album, ‘Love, Damini.’ The song, which delves into themes of heartbreak, has garnered acclaim for its exceptional production, infectious melody, and skilful use of Nigerian colloquialism.
This achievement further underscores the song’s excellence, as it earned a Grammy nomination in the World Music category and performed admirably on the charts, notably in France, where it peaked at No.23. ‘Last Last’ joins Burna Boy’s impressive list of accolades, with his previous hit, ‘Gbona,’ receiving a Platinum plaque in France, and ‘Alone‘ achieving Gold certification. These achievements solidify Burna Boy’s role as a prominent ambassador for African music on the global stage.
Additionally, ‘Last Last’ has received Platinum certifications in the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Australia, and a 2X Platinum certification in Canada. This international acclaim further demonstrates the artist’s enduring influence and appeal across multiple continents.
