Dancehall artist Blak Ryno, amidst an uptick in career interest, has found another reason for celebration following the recent announcement that Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy’s fourth studio album, ‘African Giant,’ has attained Platinum certification.
This 19-track compilation, boasting collaborations with Jamaican artists Damian Marley and Serani, also showcases Blak Ryno on Track No.12, a skit lasting one minute and seven seconds. Damian Marley features on the track ‘Different‘ alongside Angélique Kidjo, while Serani contributes vocals to ‘Secret‘ with Jeremih.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, Ryno extended his congratulations to Burna Boy on this remarkable achievement. He shared that since the news surfaced, he has been flooded with messages from dancehall enthusiasts commending his contribution to the project. Reflecting on his feature, Ryno described it as a significant career milestone, admitting he was initially unaware of the certification until his fans brought it to his attention.
Five years after its initial release, “African Giant” attained platinum status in France, surpassing the 100,000-unit sales threshold. The certification was issued by SNEP (Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique), France’s official credential agency. Notably, several singles from the album garnered acclaim, with “On the Low” securing the Viewers’ Choice award at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival and “Killin Dem” winning Song of the Year at the same event, among other accolades. Burna Boy’s performance of “Anybody” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Further solidified the album’s success.
Meanwhile, Ryno is actively promoting the official video for ‘Star Up In The Sky,’ the lead single from his upcoming five-track EP. He remains focused on completing the project, which is tentatively scheduled for release within the first quarter of this year.
