Embattled entertainer Teejay has released a diss track titled “Warning,” purportedly aimed at Byron Messia, following apparent derogatory comments made by the St. Kitts and Nevis-based hitmaker regarding Teejay and Reggae Sumfest in a private Instagram story shared among close friends.
The contentious situation seems to have reached its zenith, prompting the release of the diss track, although the initial source of the conflict remains somewhat unclear. Many fans have launched their investigations, drawing comparisons between their songs in the wake of Byron’s perceived slight against the dancehall community.
A few days ago, Byron Messia allegedly posted a provocative insult on his private Instagram Story among his close friends. The message read, “2 ppl me want fe go s**k dem mada this weekend Sum fest & Teejay,” adding, “hating a$$ bi**ches,” accompanied with the middle finger emoji.
Teejay has not publicly addressed Messia’s remarks, but credible sources aligned with the artist have conveyed that the Montegonian entertainer was sincerely perturbed, thus prompting his lyrical retaliation.
Released on Saturday night to his over 1.04 million subscribers, “Warning” has amassed a nominal 46,000+ views and currently trends at the No. 30 spot on the YouTube (Jamaica) Music Chart.
Prior to this conflict between the two, Messia had ignited an uproar on social media when he confidently asserted that his track “Talibans” is the biggest dancehall hit since 2005. His declaration, shared on Instagram, was accompanied by mentions of his Billboard-charting album and a strong assertion of the song’s importance.
“I have a Billboard Album by myself,” he stated, along with the claim, “And the biggest song in Dancehall since 2005,” in a subsequent post.
However, he later moved to clarify his statement. Nonetheless, not everyone in the music community was quick to agree, with some even suggesting that Messia might be “delusional.”
