This track, a rendition of Ja Rule and Christina Milian’s “Between Me & You,” has ignited a heated debate due to her bold fashion choice and subsequent fallout.
Taking to her official Instagram account, Denyque shared a video of herself reciting her song while dressed in a black T-shirt adorned with a provocative image. The image portrays dancehall star Popcaan enjoying a slice of watermelon, with captions reading “Somebody’s Son” next to the Unruly Boss and “Me” next to the watermelon. The visual insinuates a sexual act, implying that the depicted individual is engaging in cunnilingus.
This visual stirred strong reactions, with Popcaan responding with a curt comment, “Bitch if yuh want some clout, here’s some!! Guh s**k Yuh mada and duh play wid me!” Denyque, in turn, reacted with a subsequent post and now deleted caption, still wearing the contentious shirt, and questioned Popcaan’s strong reaction, especially in comparison to his response to an alleged previous incident involving a fellow emerging female artist.
