Demarco has released the official video for his controversial new single “Mix Parts“, which has been stirring quite a bit of conversation on social media in recent weeks.
The music video for the contentious song on the Romeich Entertainment produced Bup Bup Riddim was released on Thursday evening. It tackles the issue of people on social media deliberately concealing certain parts of themselves or others in photos. This is often done by cropping or masking specific aspects of the image. This practice is referred to as “mix parts”, coined by Demarco but originated in Jamaica, the term is also used to describe the purchase of a combination of chicken parts at a local grocery outlet.
In his song, Demarco likens the practice to what is known popularly as a “side man” or “sneaky link“, a colloquial term used to refer to individuals who are in a position of being on the side or outside of the main relationship, thus not the primary partner. In some cases, the side man may be aware of their role and willingly participate in the affair, while in others, they may be deceived or manipulated into the situation.
Since premiering hours ago, the video has accumulated over 68,000 views on YouTube and continues to enjoy an upward trajectory. Another musical project doing well for the “Good Book” hitmaker is the infectious single “Jancrow“, now a staple on the playlist of disc jocks on the airwaves and social scene.
Experiencing a surge in demand and popularity, the renowned entertainer eagerly anticipates his next assignment as the headliner at Summer Reloaded Fest in Guyana this August. The highly-anticipated event will unfold on Saturday, August 5, at Guyana’s National Park; from there, Demarco will shift his focus to Europe for a few gigs on the continent.
