Early Saturday morning, emerging dancehall artiste Bayka found himself in trouble during his debut performance on Night One of Reggae Sumfest for the repeated use of profanity on stage.
Despite several warnings from the authorities, the artiste, whose real name is Ronaldo Billings, continued to use expletives, prompting the emcee, Pretty Boy Floyd, to cut his set short. Fans booed as Bayka exited the stage with merely two minutes left in his 13-minute performance.
Following the incident, the artiste was detained and taken to the police post at Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre on the grounds of the festival. However, Prism Marketing Consultants understands that he was subsequently released after engaging in dialogue with the authorities instead of being taken to the Montego Bay lock-up.
