Renowned dancehall artiste Mad Cobra, currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center, has been charged with drug and firearm possession following a traffic stop in Florence County, South Carolina.
An update from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) indicated that the 55-year-old veteran Jamaican entertainer, given name, Ewart Everton Brown, had his surety bond set at U$125,000 with U$5,000 for the charge of possessing a weapon during a violent crime and U$120,000 for the charge of trafficking cocaine.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon (July 25th) when Deputies from South Carolina’s Florence County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Black BMW SUV for exceeding the speed limit on Interstate 95.
While conducting the traffic stop, the officers formed a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity and asked for permission to search the entertainer’s automobile. The search led to the discovery of two (2) kilos of cocaine and a Beretta 9mm pistol.
If found guilty, the deejay could face a lengthy period of imprisonment. South Carolina enforces strict regulations on the distribution of large amounts of cocaine. Possession of more than 400 grams could result in a fine of up to U$200,000 and a prison sentence of 25-30 years.
