This Saturday, July 1, popular gospel singer Kevin Downswell is set to make a powerful musical statement with the release of two new albums, The Grace and The Shift, under his Downswell Records imprint.
The Grace, a project four years in the making, holds a special significance for Downswell, who described it as a “miracle album.” Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the album took on a new level of vibrancy and depth, inspired by the experiences of the creative team during those uncertain times. Notably, The Grace features a collaboration with dancehall icon Rodney Price, known by his stage name Bounty Killer, on the powerful worship song “Call Him.”
Reflecting on his growth as an artist since his last studio album, Downswell expressed his musical evolution and newfound ability to bring his vision to life. He highlighted the maturation and experience that have enabled him to see from a “different godly perspective,” resulting in songs that are both relatable and impactful. The albums mark a milestone in Downswell’s musical journey, showcasing his growth as a vocalist and songwriter.
To celebrate the release of The Grace and The Shift, Downswell will host an album launch and concert at The Ambassadors on Hagley Park Road. The event promises to be a memorable evening, featuring performances by talented artists such as Alicia Taylor, Johnmark Wiggan, O’shane Mais, Prince Saj, Oneil Watson, Jermaine Cowan, and Lucas Musiq, among others. The launch serves as a testament to Downswell’s commitment to sharing his uplifting music and spreading his message of faith and inspiration.
