In a recent interview on The Danza Project YouTube page, rapper Bobby Shmurda revealed that he does not listen to rap music because he believes it is “dangerous to the communities.”

Shmurda expressed his concern about the negative influence the music can have on young listeners, which serves as the main reason for his decision to avoid the genre altogether. He believes that rap should promote positive messages and focus on themes such as coming from poverty and rising to success.

“You got these f**king kids following you guys [rappers]… and you’re f**king rapping about these lifestyles…It’s endangering, it’s very detrimental, very dangerous to the communities, that these kids think that is going on that you did not even live.” He intimated.

He urged rappers to prioritize promoting positive messages rather than glorifying negative lifestyles.

“I think rap’s supposed to be telling muthaf**kas to go from negative to positive, coming from poverty going to riches and stuff like that. And how to stay in that and how to change. That’s the shit that I want to hear, I want to hear about living life.” He added.

When asked about his musical preferences, Shmurda said he prefers reggae over rap. He believes that reggae offers a more positive message and encourages listeners to live life to the fullest. While he does not listen to rap music, he does dance to it in the club.

“I want to listen to some bl**dclot reggae,” he states. “That’s why I don’t listen to rap; for real, I don’t listen to rap. I don’t know nothing about rappers.. Only time I listen to rap is when I’m in the club, I just dance to anything.”

The recent stance by the Brooklyn rapper has been met with mixed reviews from fans.
