Jamaica’s national men’s football team has gained a notable supporter in the form of acclaimed American R&B singer John Legend.
The current unit of the Reggae Boyz, competing in the 2023 Gold Cup competition, is widely regarded as one of Jamaica’s strongest squads ever assembled. They showcased their talent on Saturday by holding the USA to a stalemate in a commendable display.
Following the game, the team displayed their camaraderie as they gathered for an impromptu karaoke session led by goalkeeper and team captain Andre Blake, who played the piano. The Boyz passionately performed a rendition of John Legend’s hit song “All of Me.”
The cover quickly went viral, amassing thousands of views across various social media platforms. It even caught the attention of John Legend himself. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the singer expressed his approval, writing, “Sing it fellas!” accompanied by a series of Jamaican flags.
John Legend has previously expressed his love for Jamaica and its music. In a September 2022 interview with local media, the Grammy-winning artist shared his admiration for collaborating with Jamaican musicians, acknowledging the global influence of their musical styles.
