Jamaican dancehall group T.O.K showcased their commitment to inclusivity and tolerance by omitting their 2001 classic hit ‘Chi Chi Man‘ from their recent performance at Reggae On The Beach concert in Barbados.
Despite the song’s popularity, the group made a bold statement by choosing not to perform it, emphasizing their focus on promoting unity rather than separation.
The decision was met with mixed reactions from fans, but the group remained resolute and unbothered by the commentary. In an interview with Barbados media, band member Roshaun ‘Bay C’ Clarke explained that while ‘Chi Chi Man’ holds great significance for many fans, it is also potentially offensive to others. As the group aimed to unite fans through their music, they consciously decided to avoid offending anyone and abstain from performing the song.
This performance marked T.O.K’s first appearance on the Caribbean island in over ten years; during the set, Xavier “Flex” Davidson was noticeably absent.
