Reggae-dancehall veteran Capleton has been selected as one of three international acts and the only Jamaican artist for the first-ever Sunset Fest in Costa Rica. He will headline alongside Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Tito el Bambino and Argentinian band Los Pericos, with the support of several local talents.
The festival unfolds in Jacó, Puntarenas, on Saturday, June 10th, and will begin with the Sunset Tournament, supported by the Costa Rican Surfing Federation. Throughout the day, attendees can browse the Mercadito Davivienda, where local entrepreneurs will offer products and delectable cuisine. As the evening approaches, the concert will get underway.
Locally, Capleton is working assiduously on completing his much-anticipated album, though he has not provided any additional information on its title, features, or release date. During an interview at this year’s Rebel Salute at Plantation Cove, St. Ann, the Rastafarian singer explained, “We just want the people to know that it’s in the making…we know it’s long overdue.”
This forthcoming album will be his first since I-Ternal Fire, released in 2010.
With a career spanning over three decades, Capleton also revealed that he has many collaborations in the works, including Beres Hammond, Sizzla Kalonji, Bounty Killer, Morgan Heritage, Alpha Blondy, Chronixx and Kabaka Pyramid, among others.
