Before the fame, fortune and celebrity status he now enjoys, dancehall star Aidonia recalls a period when he was merely an upstart with aspirations of making it big in the dancehall game.
In the inaugural episode of his latest project, “Ask Aidonia,” a social media-based Q&A series shot by Banger House Music Group, fans are given an opportunity to gain some personal insight into the deejay’s life and professional career.
Kickstarting the series, Aidonia spoke about his journey and the tribulations of getting that initial break. During the narratives, he recounts being introduced to then dancehall frontrunner Mr G (formerly Goofy) by longtime friend Aicon and reciting his most potent lyrics in a bid to impress, only to be told his presentation was “alright at best.”
Aidonia says the feedback was shocking and instantly deflated his ego, “Big woman ting di way how Goofy seh ‘him aright’ it mash me up, mi nah lie.”
He also spoke about his encounters with accomplished producer Skatta Burrell and the pivotal role he played in the advancement of his career.
Meanwhile, with summer fast approaching, the “Banga” hitmaker has announced that he will embark on a five-city tour of the United States.
Dubbed “Frsh Drop Tour 2023“, the musical expedition will see Aidonia making several stops throughout the U.S. eastern seaboard, with his first assignment on June 11th at the New York edition of Sandz Festival. Other stops along the tour include Connecticut on July 29th, Atlanta on August 12th, the DMV on the 13th and culminating on September 16th in Miami, Florida.
