Reggae singer Bugle has become the latest in a growing list of Jamaican entertainers to go viral on the popular social media platform Tik Tok.
The crooner’s classic dancehall hit “Nuh Compatible“, released in 2013 on the UIM Records imprint, has apparently found favour with the platform’s young audience in a new trend started by user “Tori La Reine” dubbed “slow whine tek timeeee dj scarta“.
Her initial post has generated over 1052 videos from other users, accumulating millions of views in the process. This is led to a renewed interest in the record, which has seen an uptick in viewership. The official visual’s collective views now stand at 5.6 million on Youtube.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, Bugle says he was not aware that the song was trending on the platform but is pleased to know that a younger audience is tapping into his music,
“I didn’t know the song was trending on Tik Tok, someone brought it to my attention, and I decided to check it out and realise a lot of people were holding a vibe to it. I don’t fully understand everything about the platform but give thanks to everyone who continues to support me and my music,” He added.
Meanwhile, his latest collaborative effort, ‘Us‘, featuring eclectic singer GiHRL, continues to gain traction across the diaspora and Europe.
Last week, the single debuted at No.117 on Norway’s Apple Music Reggae Single Chart amidst continued competition from several industry heavyweights. The official video has garnered over 150,000 views via Youtube since its premiere.
Bugle, one of the industry’s most prolific singers and songwriters, expressed satisfaction with the steady progress and support the record has been receiving. He acknowledged the positive feedback and overwhelming support, especially from the ladies, hinting that he might explore doing more love songs in the future.
Renowned for his immaculate pen game Bugle showcases his versatility on ‘Us‘ and delivers a masterfully curated composition complemented by GiHRL’s silky vocals. The visual directed by Damaniac Visualz captures the chemistry between the two artists, despite the relationship hurdles they face.
