Masicka, the latest dancehall signee to Def Jam Recordings, is set to return to the stage for the 2023 edition of Reggae Sumfest.
The event organisers made the announcement via social media on Wednesday, sending fans of the artist into a frenzy. Last year, Masicka delivered a commendable performance that included a special appearance by British rapper Stefflon Don, leaving the audience satisfied and eager for more.
This year, the event organisers have promised a 10 out of 10 performance from the “Genna” himself, Masicka, and asked fans to comment their favourite song in anticipation of the event,
“Expect a 10 outa 10 performance from the genna himself – Masicka! Comment your favourite song ⬇️” – Reggae Sumfest wrote.
In anticipation of his forthcoming album, Masicka has been promoting his first single, “Pieces,” featuring Jahshii. The official video for the track, released over two months ago, has already accumulated over 5.5 million views on YouTube. The highly-anticipated sophomore album remains untitled and will follow his critically acclaimed debut “438,” distributed by One RPM.
The debut album, consisting of 16 tracks, debuted at No.2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart in December 2021, peaked at No.14 on the Billboard Seekers Album list, and remained on the Top 10 list for seven consecutive weeks. The American music platform awarded Masicka a pair of plaques for his achievements.
