In recent times, criminal activity in some areas of Jamaica has escalated, with dancehall artist Stacious falling prey to this alarming trend.
The artist, taking to Instagram, narrated how her black van, nicknamed “Misty,” was broken into by thieves who smashed the rear right window to gain entry. The incident occurred Thursday morning (3 am) on Arnold Road in Kingston.
A pair of headphones, a gold watch, two USB drives, and a gym bag containing personal effects such as boxing gloves, underwear, and a back brace were among the items stolen.
Stacious expressed gratitude for not being directly harmed by the incident. However, she pleaded with the culprits to return the stolen USB drive that contained unreleased music and other valuable content pertinent to her music career.
Stacious gained popularity with her 2009 hit, “Come Into My Room,” featuring Mavado, produced by Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor on the Big Ship recording imprint.
The incidence is the latest in a string of criminal activities plaguing the country. The situation and many prior ones have led to calls for increased security measures and greater intervention from the authorities to curtail the spike in criminal activities.
