On Monday, the Unruly Boss met with American recording artiste Chance The Rapper and business partner Vic Mensa at an undisclosed location. Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, a source close to both parties told Prism Marketing Consultants that the subject of the Black Star Line Festival was broached.
Previously, Chance The Rapper revealed during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that he hopes to stage the next Black Star Line Festival in Jamaica in January 2024. Co-promoted by Vic Mensa, the festival takes inspiration from Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line, founded in 1919 by Black people to connect shipping and tourism between America, the Caribbean, and Africa.
The first edition of the festival, held in Ghana in January, attracted over 52,000 attendees and featured renowned performers such as Erykah Badu, Dave Chappelle, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys, and M.anifest.
The meeting with Popcaan, Chance The Rapper, and Vic Mensa may lead to new opportunities for Jamaica’s tourism industry and music culture.
