On the fourth and final night of Rolling Stone’s Future of Music Showcase at the Mood Theater in Austin, Texas, Koffee delivered a blissful reggae performance tinged with dancehall and pop, connecting the audience with not just her music but her indelible charm. The night also featured rising sensation, Chloë Bailey.
“Positivity is definitely a theme,” she told Rolling Stone before her set about Gifted, her debut album released in 2021. “It will be a very interesting twist for people who knew my music before, and also for people who will discover me. I think it will be really awesome,” she added, and indeed it was.
However, Koffee’s journey to the United States wasn’t without incident. U.S. immigration authorities reportedly questioned the Jamaican singer and Grammy winner following a dispute on an American Airlines flight from Kingston to Miami.
According to reports, Koffee attempted to use the first-class restroom despite being seated in the economy section, and a dispute ensued between her and the flight crew. The situation escalated, causing the pilot to circle the flight until tensions eased between Koffee and the crew.
Koffee’s arrival in the United States was delayed due to the incident, and she was reportedly interviewed by authorities but was eventually released. The incident did not dampen the spirits of Koffee’s fans, who continue to embrace her upbeat music and undeniable charm.
