DJ Smurf, a prominent contributor to the reggae-dancehall culture, is taking his career to new heights with the unveiling of his latest projects.Â
The multi-talented music producer and radio jock have released two new compilations showcasing some of the best reggae and dancehall offerings. The first project, “Badder Than Before,” is a reggae compilation featuring industry heavyweights such as Richie Stephens, Sanchez, George Nooks, Lukie D, Delly Ranx, and Nitty Kutchie.Â
According to DJ Smurf, the project has received positive feedback and is enjoying premium rotation across the diaspora. “Based on feedback from various quarters, I must admit it’s a good look, and I appreciate all the support the project has been receiving,” he said.
The second undertaking, “Back To The Future,” is a dancehall compilation featuring a diverse group of talent spanning the 90s era to present day. The collection boasts names like Beenie Man, Frisco Kid, Little Lenny, Delly Ranx, Tanto Metro, Devonte, Bramma, Wasp, Kacique, Flamzz, and Ital. Released in January, the compilation continues to receive positive feedback, with fans expressing their appreciation for the return of authentic dancehall music to the forefront.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, DJ Smurf disclosed that he has more projects in the pipeline, including dancehall singles and rhythm compilations. He is also working on some new material to be featured on an album. Nonetheless, he’s not ready to disclose further details.
In addition to his music production, DJ Smurf has a full roster of weekly gigs, including appearances at Ribbiz, East Japanese, and Waterfalls. He can also be heard on Irie FM on Saturdays (2-6 pm) and Sundays (10 pm – 2 am), serving up some of the hottest mixes from modern hits to retro classics.
