Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj recently showed her support for incarcerated dancehall icon Ninjaman in a video now circulating on social media.
The video shows Nicki dancing to Ninjaman’s 1991 hit “Number One” while wearing a two-piece bathing suit in what appears to be a hotel room.
In response, Ninjaman’s official Instagram account reposted the video with the caption,
“Big up ur self mama @nickiminaj ❤️❤️”.
Meanwhile, Ninjaman is currently serving a life sentence in a Jamaican correctional facility for the murder of Ricardo Johnson, also known as ‘Ricky Trooper‘, and 20 years for shooting with intent in relation to another person.
Nicki has expressed her love for Jamaica in the past and recently announced her intention to visit the island for the upcoming Jamaica Carnival festivities. The revelation was made via an Instagram post, where she wrote,
“We need @ next Trini carnival and I’m going to JA carnival.”
However, her love for Jamaica has been criticized by some of her Trinidadian fans for not promoting her birth country enough. Despite this, Nicki continues to show her support for Jamaica, a country that has heavily influenced her music and style.
