This Wednesday, March 1, at 7 pm, the IRIE FM Music Awards will unveil via their digital platform.Â
“Plans are in high gear for tonight’s ceremony, which will celebrate the best and most popular components of Jamaican music and culture during the past year,” said Nicholas Evans, Chairman of the Awardees committee.Â
The ceremony will be presented in the format of a Radio Program.
There are twenty-five categories up for grabs, including Best Collaboration of the Year, IRIE FM Humanitarian Award, Reggae Ambassador Award, Male and Female DJ of the year, Male and Female Singer of the year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Social Media Influencer of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
Valiant, the trending deejay, leads the nominations with eight nods, while Popcaan holds second place with five nominations. Valiant was recently featured in British Vogue’s prediction of the top nine musicians set to dominate the scene in 2023. He was the only Jamaican artist on the list. Last November, he also made history on Youtube as the first Jamaican artist to have five songs in the top 5 most streamed songs locally.
Spice and Shenseea are up for four awards, while Dexta Daps, Shaneil Muir, Stalk Ashley, Moyann, and Skeng have three nominations each. Other nominees include Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Ding Dong, Koffee, Masicka, D’Angel, Alkaline, Burna Boy, Jada Kingdom, Shaggy, and Sean Paul, among others.
