During a recent bonfire lighting ceremony in Charlemont, St. Catherine, conducted by residents of the community along with reggae singer Sizzla Kalonji and his Youth Foundation, the militant Rastafarian had a lot to say.
In an almost two-minute video, Sizzla, who was off-camera, addressed several issues, including the plaque-burning exercise that made international headlines and used the opportunity to express condolences to his peers who have lost a loved one in recent times,
“Ragga Marley, bless up yuhself, yuh dun kno! Bless up yuhself, Aidonia big up yuhself, Ricky General, Alozade and all a mi artiste bredda dem; you have lost your child, my condolences.“
Alluding to the controversy surrounding himself and American business magnate Dj Khaled, the embattled deejay added,
“Big up Buju Banton same way, big up Bounty Killer, big up everyone, big up yuhself Dj Khaled, big up everyone weh mek platinum, whoa! dadda bun di plaque a suh it guh enuh, Sizzla love bun fire, Rastafari every time, vanity vexation of the soul, just live in love and praise di Most High every time Rastafari we out.”
The Bon fire-lighting ceremony formed part of a stage show headlined by the “Dry Cry” hitmaker and hosted by the community in partnership with Sizzla’s Youth Foundation at the Charlemont housing scheme.
Meanwhile, as the curtain comes down on January, last week, Sizzla announced that he would embark on a tour of Japan this Spring. Spanning thirteen cities, the club tour dubbed “Sizzla Kalonji Everlasting – Japan Tour 2023” will commence on April 25 and culminate on May 7, 2023, with stops at various venues, including Vibes, Duckbill, The VooDoo Lounge, Route Fourteen, King XMHU, Mairo and Bank30 among others as part of his two-week exploit.
