Former Gaza deejay Lisa Hyper has been released after receiving successful treatment for depression at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
The artist, whose real name is Felicia Gooden, had been admitted to the facility for a week and is now looking forward to resuming her career and fulfilling her contractual obligations.
During her stint at UHWI, Lisa received care from a team of professionals whom she credits with helping her to overcome her depression. She also recognized the need to stop smoking marijuana and take her medication as prescribed to maintain her stability. She is now committed to closely monitoring and managing her condition to avoid relapse.
In addition to focusing on her mental health, the entertainer is also using her experience to encourage others struggling with depression or other mental health issues to seek help. She knows firsthand the stigma surrounding mental illness in Jamaica and wants to encourage others not to be ashamed and to seek the help they need. Hyper also hopes to give back to UHWI in the foreseeable future, to make the experience more comfortable and pleasant for other patients.
