Ye formerly known as Kanye West is preparing for a second presidential run.
The controversial rapper appears to have declared his intention to run for president in 2024. A video surfaced over the weekend showing West with Milo Yiannopoulos, an alt-right political commentator who is working on West’s presidential campaign.
Ye informs the videographer that he is observing Milo working on the campaign.
“Is that an announcement?” Kanye asks before Yiannopoulos replies, “I guess it is. Thanks, I accept.”
Later, he provides the videographer with a tour of his offices and presidential merchandise, including “YE24” sweatpants.
“So you are running?” the cameraman asks, to which Ye responds, “It’s simple ’cause ain’t nobody can tell me, you know, ‘You should say this, you shouldn’t say that,’ you know? It’s just we’re moving towards the future.”
This will be West’s second run for the presidency. In twelve states, he appeared on the ballot in the 2020 presidential election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Before conceding, West, who ran under the “Birthday Party” banner, received approximately 60,000 votes and hinted at a 2024 run.
Ye, one of Trump’s most prominent celebrity backers, will run against the former president once more. The twice-impeached president announced his candidacy for the White House in 2024 last week.
Following his antisemitic outbursts, Ye returned to Twitter following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company, posting his first tweets in over two weeks. After ensuring the functionality of his account, he tweeted “Shalom.”
