Yesterday (Friday, October 21), Serani’s worldwide hit “No Games” was officially certified platinum in the United Kingdom.
As measured by The Official Charts Company, sales of over 600,000 copies in the United Kingdom prompted the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) to present the song with the Brit Certified Platinum Award.
In April 2020, the song was certified Gold for sales of over 400,000 copies; in June 2017, it was certified Silver for sales of over 200,000 copies. The song was initially released in 2008.
The Unfinished Business riddim, jointly produced by Serani’s own DASECA production and Linton White, more popularly known as “TJ”, serves as the backdrop for No Games. Fabian Marasciullo mixed the infectious, upbeat track, and Dancehall producer Dave Kelly is credited for the Stink/Showtime riddim influences on the instrumental.
In August, Serani made headlines in the UK and received some mainstream attention after one of his performances went viral.
The flurry of attention stems from his set at the Manchester Carnival, where Serani was encouraged by BBC 1Xtra media personality Seani B to bring a young fan on stage after noticing her singing her heart out to his 2009 hit No Games.
Despite her young age, seven-year-old Lottie, a resident of Hulme, Manchester, belted out some impressive vocals in her duet with the Jamaican to the approval of the large gathering. Since the encounter, several videos of the performance have gone viral, racking up millions of views online.
