After being postponed from its original date of June 25 due to the implementation of a State of Public Emergency (SOE) for the parish of St. Catherine by the Government and law enforcement officials, the anniversary celebrations for Di Unit Sound system will get underway this weekend.
Set to unfold this Friday, August 12, at the Portmore Mall parking lot in St. Catherine, the Guinness-sponsored experience will see dancehall stalwarts Bugle, Munga Honourable and Jahmiel headlining the entertainment package while ZJ Ice, Bishop Escobar, Echo One Sound and the Di Unit collective governing the turntables.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, promoter, and businessman Dave “Tall Boss”, Scott disclosed that he is very optimistic about this year’s staging despite the setbacks encountered due to the pandemic and the government-imposed SOE,
“A collective decision was taken in the interest of the event and public safety to change the date to Friday, August 12. Now that some level of normalcy has returned, myself and the team are very optimistic based on the feedback we’ve received from supporters as we look forward to another successful staging of our anniversary celebrations.” – Scott added.
Di Unit Sound, arguable the most dominant sound system from Portmore, is also host to the popular weekly event ‘Badda Tuesdays‘
