Controversial deejay Skeng is steadily etching his name among the annals of dancehall.
Performing in St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the weekend, the Spanish Town-based entertainer delivered another energized set to much fanfaronade. His collaborative effort “Protocol” with compatriot Tommy Lee Sparta was among his most well-received during his set.
Released only months ago, “Protocol” has surpassed “Gvnman Shift” to become Skeng’s most-streamed song on Youtube, racking up over 28 million views. Meanwhile, he has secured the No.1 spot on the trending music chart with his latest single, “Gang Bang”. Masicka currently occupies the No.2 spot with his “Tom Brady” freestyle.
His continued surge in popularity comes on the heels of an announcement last Friday by Guyana’s public security minister Robeson Benn that the artiste was banned from performing at any public events in that country based on unfortunate happenings at a concert in the Caribbean state.
According to Benn, “no artiste like Skeng will ever come again into this country under the signature of any person from the Ministry of Home Affairs or from the Guyana Police Force.”
Since the revelation, his management has released an official statement addressing the situation.
