Dancehall star Mavado, currently on his ‘The Real McKoy Tour‘ in the UK, has been forced to halt his campaign due to a severe case of the flu. The singer, who had successfully completed the first leg of his two-show stint in London on July 20th, was scheduled to perform in Nottingham this Saturday. However, after being hospitalized earlier this week, he has been advised by doctors to rest and recuperate.
A statement obtained by Prism Marketing Consultants from Mavado’s team on Thursday, July 25th, informed fans of his condition and the subsequent postponement of the Nottingham show. Mavado expressed his regret in the statement,
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce to my UK fans that the show at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham, slated for this Saturday, July 27th, has been rescheduled to September 27th. After the historic show last Saturday in London, I was hit with a severe bout of flu. I have been bedridden all week and had to seek medical attention. I am over the worst of it and recovering, but on the advice of doctors, I am unable to perform this Saturday.”
The rescheduled date for the Nottingham show is set for September 27th, 2024. Mavado also took to Instagram to address his fans directly, posting a black-and-white photo of himself with the caption, “My UK fans sorry for the change of plan I have no choice. Gully Gad will be back real soon 🙏🏿 🇬🇧 🇯🇲”. Despite the setback, Mavado expressed his gratitude for the support he has received during his time in the UK, promising to return in September to continue making history with his fans.
The showcase also features fellow entertainers Gyptian, Stalk Ashley, Chipmunk and visually impaired sensation Nigy Boy.
