Two of the many attributes associated with the Yuletide season are family and giving gifts. It appears that Dancehall star Aidonia has received both, as news broke that he and his wife, Kimberly, welcomed their second child into the world.
The latest addition, a son named Kenzo Lawrence, was born on Monday, December 18, 2023, just a few days before Christmas, providing the couple with the perfect gift for the festive season. Aidonia’s team, in an exclusive conversation with Prism Marketing Consultants, confirmed the birth of a healthy baby boy. They also shared that the deejay and his wife are currently in an upbeat mood.
Aidonia initially revealed the news of his wife’s pregnancy in August during a performance at the widely publicized “Under The Influence” concert, featuring American R&B superstar Chris Brown and various local talents. Amidst the bright lights and cheering audience, the dancehall hitmaker invited his wife onto the stage, announcing their impending addition to the family.
Kenzo’s birth comes just days after the one-year anniversary of the passing of Kalif Lawrence, the couple’s first son, who died on December 3, 2022, after a protracted battle with cancer. This marked a dark chapter in their lives, leaving the deejay and his family to grapple with the painful reality of losing their then-only child.
Despite re-entering the music scene earlier this year, Aidonia has not concealed the monumental void that Khalif’s passing carved into the fabric of his existence. In a poignant Instagram post some months ago, the entertainer bared his soul to his followers, offering a glimpse into his daily emotional struggles as he wrestles with the inescapable reality.
In a more recent development, Aidonia’s commitment to honouring his late son materialized in the form of a new facial tattoo, an indelible tribute to Khalif. Positioned above his left eyebrow, the tattoo reads “Khalif” alongside a heart symbol. This is the second occasion on which Aidonia has inscribed his familial devotion onto his skin; in April, he showcased an ample chest tattoo bearing the names “Kim” and “Khalif,” embellished with regal crowns.
Aidonia’s openness about his struggles with grief and loss serves as a reminder that celebrities, like anyone else, are not immune to the pain of losing a loved one.
Prior to the birth of Kenzo, the 4th Genna deejay made headlines by announcing a temporary hiatus from the music scene. Despite recently releasing his latest project, a 23-track set titled ‘Occupied Mind,’ Aidonia shared his decision, citing the need to focus on family, particularly in anticipation of the arrival of his son.
