During a recent almost ten-minute-long interview with renowned broadcaster and entertainment journalist Anthony Miller, Attorney-at-law Isat Buchanan, who represents incarcerated dancehall star Vybz Kartel, delved into a range of issues affecting his client.
Among the critical concerns addressed was the reported confinement of Kartel to a 23-hour lockdown at the Tower Street correctional facility, General Penitentiary (GP), as a disciplinary measure for an alleged breach involving a pair of cellphones.
Buchanan utilized the opportunity to shed light on Jamaica’s outdated prison system, inherited from the colonial era, and the harsh conditions that Vybz Kartel and other inmates endure in various correctional facilities nationwide. He also criticized the government, suggesting that they should prioritize fixing the prison system before focusing on their own financial gains, referencing the recent salary increase granted to members of the political directorate.
Wrapping up the insightful interview, Anthony Miller playfully teased the idea of a potential collaboration between Vybz Kartel and Buchanan. The attorney jokingly suggested that if Vybz Kartel still has access to a cellphone, he would have the Gaza Boss personally contact him to further discuss the musical collaboration.
