Renowned sound system operator Ricky Trooper recently shared his deep anguish over the tragic loss of his daughter Brianna McKoy.
Despite the emotional turmoil he was experiencing, Trooper felt compelled to fulfil his contractual obligations and play music at an event for which he was booked. He tearfully acknowledged that it was the music that kept him going during this difficult time.
“When you take promoter money, you can’t just tell them that something happened and back out. You just have to do the work,” Trooper said, his voice cracking with emotion. “The truth is, it’s the music that’s keeping me going.”
During the Instagram Live session, Trooper shared that his daughter was innocent and expressed frustration with the circumstances surrounding her death. He recounted his close relationship with her and how she helped him understand the world better.
While grateful for the outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, Trooper also appealed for privacy as he navigated his grief. He even took a moment to acknowledge dancehall icon Bounty Killer’s condolences, noting that any past disagreements between them were strictly musical.
