Who Is Rielle, and Why Are So Many of Jamaica’s Music Heavyweights Endorsing Her?

In an industry where authenticity is everything, earning the respect of Jamaica’s top musicians is no easy feat. Yet, rising American singer Rielle, a Puerto Rican-Italian artist blending reggae, dancehall, R&B and island pop, has caught the attention of some of the biggest names in the game. With co-signs from legends like Busta Rhymes, Gyptian, Mr. Vegas, and super-producer Christopher Birch, the question arises—who is Rielle, and why is she getting so much attention from Jamaica’s music elite?

At just 24 years old, Rielle—born Gabrielle Santo—has been steadily carving her space in the industry, guided by veteran music executive Mark Pinnock under his boutique label, Natural Bridge. Her latest single, Sail Away, an ode to Jamaica and the Caribbean’s warmth and freedom, has been gaining momentum along the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, and her collaborations with Christopher Birch have only amplified her credibility. Birch, the mastermind behind some of dancehall and reggae’s biggest global hits, describes her as “a breath of fresh air” and insists that she cannot be confined to a single genre. “She’s going to be a major player in this business as long as she puts her energy and focus into what she’s doing,” he affirms. Similar sentiments were also echoed by the aforementioned music legends.

Jamaican endorsements hold immense weight in the global music scene, as the island remains a powerhouse for cultural exports. According to the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), the country’s music industry contributes billions to the economy annually, with dancehall and reggae playing key roles in shaping mainstream pop and hip-hop. In the U.S., dancehall streaming numbers surged by 32% in 2024, proving that the genre remains influential. When icons like Gyptian and Mr. Vegas publicly acknowledge an emerging artist, it signals to both fans and the industry that the talent is not just a fleeting trend but someone who genuinely respects and embodies the culture.

What makes Rielle’s rise even more compelling is her approach to music. Unlike many artists who incorporate Caribbean influences superficially, she immerses herself in the genre, working closely with Jamaican producers and industry veterans. Her mantra, “No Stress, Just Bless,” reflects the philosophy she’s adopted from her time in Jamaica, recognizing that music should be an organic and joyful expression. With a growing catalogue and a mission to showcase her versatility, Rielle is not just dabbling in reggae and dancehall—she’s proving that she belongs in the conversation.

As Sail Away continues to make waves and enjoy an uptick in digital streams and views, Rielle is poised to break new ground, bridging cultures and genres in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Backed by some of the most respected voices in the industry, she’s not just another artist experimenting with dancehall—she’s an artist that Jamaica has embraced. And in a genre where credibility is everything, that endorsement speaks volumes.
